Ever felt like trying your hand at structure designing? Ever wondered how it would feel if you could construct something that could make a difference? This event at “ZAZEN-2011” tests the mettle of students to come up with a model of a bridge with an innovative and path-breaking idea with attractive prize money at stake, the objective is to design a resource and time-optimized structure that satisfies the constraints mentioned in the problem.

Rules and Regulations

• General Rules
  • The event will be held in two rounds both of which will be held during “ZAZEN- 2011”.
  • The final testing of the structures will be done on the next day of completion of event.
  • The maximum size of a team is 3.
• Round 1:
  • There will be a written preliminary round to test the participants knowledge of mechanics and physics required to complete the goal of the problem.
• Round 2:
  • Teams will be provided with a problem statement specifying the details ofv the bridge.
  • Teams will have to construct a bridge structures based on certain restrictions and parameters given at the time of the competition, within a given time frame.
  • Materials(ice cream sticks,fevicol,thread) will be provided, which will be same for all.
  • All intricate rules and regulations will be revealed on the spot.
  • The decision of the judge is final and binding.
• Judging Parameters:
  • Loads will be placed on the bridge on the bridge in the longitudnal direction. Bridge  resisting maximum load will be declared winner.
• Prizes:

  1st Prize : Rs. 3,000

  2nd Prize : Rs. 2,000

  3rd Prize : Rs. 1,000
