Catch the Queen

Description

According to ancient greek culture gladiators use to fight for there country and protect the queen, But now in this age of automation and technology where Robots and its various applications are taking us into a new age. So, the automated bots will fight for there queen and defend against various obstacles. Zazen rediscovers the ingenuity of the ancient gladiators once again…build an automated bot that traverses the arena and reaches the jubilee queen in the quickest possible manner.

Problem Statement

To design an autonomous robot capable of following line and detecting obstacles.

Machine Specifications:

  • The size of the robot can be a maximum of 20cm X 20cm X 20cm.
  • Readymade circuits (or PCBs) can be used but the participants will have have to explain the whole circuit after successful completion. Just to know whether you have an idea on what you are working .
  • Readymade gearboxes, bases and wheels can be used.
  • Power source could be present on the bot or provided externally. A 220 Volts 50 Hz AC supply will be provided on spot.

Arena Specifications

  • Download the arena specifications here.
  • The line width will be 3cm (which can vary from 2.5 cm to 3.5 cm)
  • 4 All the paths will be white in color having width 3cm and the arena background will be black for the left part of the arena.
  • All the paths will be black in color having width 3cm and the arena background will be white for the right part of the arena.
  • The obstacles will be a cuboid of 4cm x 4cm x 8 cm.
  • The jubilee queen will be a cube of 4cm x 4cm x4cm.

Games Rule

  • A maximum time of 8 minutes will be given for completion of the task.
  • A team can avail a maximum of three runs.
  • A maximum of two restarts are allowed per run with a penalty of 10 sec with restart from the last checkpoint.
  • The task is completed when the bot pushes the jubilee queen into the box.
  • Level 1 will be just testing your bot’s line following skill .
  • Top 8 teams will be selected for level 2. (It may change according to the participation.
  • In level 2 obstacles will be placed on the arena which the bot has to detect and symbolize by glowing a LED.
  • Top 4 teams will be selected for level 3.
  • In level 3 humps will be introduced and there dimension will be updated soon.

Genral Rules

  • Each team can consist of a maximum of 4 members.
  • The team members can be from different institutes or colleges. All members must have an institute ID card.
  • Each team should have unique participant i.e. no two teams can have even a single participant in common.
  • The participant team is required to bring their extension wire and multipoint plug. Power supply of 220 V & 50 Hz will be provided at the arena.
  • The bot should always be powered by 12v.
  • A team is allowed to have only one robot.
  • Any damage to the arena shall straightaway lead to disqualification.

Scoring Rules:

  • The final score will be calculated by the following formula: t=time elapsed in seconds h=detecting obstacles =60 points m=crossing the checkpoints= 30 points q= pushing the jubilee queen = 100 points r=no. of restarts F=Final Score F=480 – t + h + m + q - r
  • The team having maximum points will be the winner.

Prize Money

  • First Prize: 5000 INR
  • Second Prize: 3000 INR
  • Third Prize: 2000 INR
